Who Are We?
Learning and Development (L&D) Africa is a network of L&D professionals in Africa and beyond. We bring together African L&D practitioners and enthusiasts in the organizational and personal development space to engage, develop ideas and share common learnings.
We organize conferences, webinars and seminars for members of our network and other interested parties. Our flagship event is our annual L&D Africa Conference which brings together over 700 participants from all over the world to discuss relevant themes and issues in the L&D industry in Africa and beyond.
The network is hosted by Rainbow Consult which coordinates the activities of L&D Africa.
Why this network?
As of 2020, Africa had 250 International Finance Corporation (IFC) and 2682 International Labour Organisation (ILO) certified trainers. Despite the considerable size of the L&D industry in Africa, there was previously no existing platform or event that provided L&D Professionals in Africa a space to meet to discuss and share ideas. L&D Africa, therefore, seeks to fill this gap by creating a platform and avenue for African L&D professionals to meet as one unified body, and share home-grown ideas and solutions to Africa’s peculiar challenges within the context of international best practices.

Margaret Jackson is the Managing Partner of Rainbow Consult. She is a Learning and Performance Institute (LPI) Trainer and Assessor in addition to being an International Finance Corporation (IFC) certified Master Trainer and Instructional Designer.
She is a member of Society for Human Resource Management, USA and a member of Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana. Margaret has over twenty-five (25) years’ experience working in the learning and development industry and has designed training manuals and e-learning courses for several organizations across Africa. She is also a provisional anti-corruption compliance trainer for Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).
Margaret has led various research projects for both local and international organizations and has trained over five hundred (500) trainers under the IFC program. She has facilitated retreats for numerous organizations including SNV, West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), FORD Foundation, Amnesty International, GRIDCO, NSIA Insurance, DALEX Finance and Leasing Company among others.
Advisory Board Chairperson
Nneka Okekearu heads Gender and is Deputy Director at the Enterprise Development Centre of the Pan Atlantic University. A certified IFC TPMA Assessor, Leadership trainer from the Centre for Creative Leadership US, Global Mentor with the Michigan State University. She has mentored over 1000 entrepreneurs in the last decade and a half helping them clarify their : Position, Profits, Processes. Her passion lies in helping entrepreneurs unlock their passions and potentials.
